The Cowboy's of Chance Creek

The Cowboy’s E-mail Order Bride by Cora Seton
The Cowboy's of Chance Creek #1

In the first installment of the Chance Creek Series Cora Seton has set the bar high for the remainder of the series.  This quick read is perfect if you are looking for a fast paced romance with hot cowboys.  The light hearted banter between friends and love at first sight makes reading it all the more fun.

Getting drunk around your prankster friends is not a good idea.  Ethan Cruz finds this out the hard way.  After being dumped by his fiancé and tragic death of his parents, Ethan gets drunk and confesses the qualities he wants in a wife.  His friend, Rob, pulls off the ultimate prank, edits the video and puts it on Youtube as a proposal.  Unbeknownst to him, his friends hand-pick a bride from him and fly her to his Montana ranch.  Autumn Leeds, a columnist for a women’s magazine, is looking for her next big story when she comes upon Ethan’s Youtube video.  She and her friend Becka put together a video for submission with all Ethan’s dream girl qualities.  Next thing you know the pair are on the ranch and neither have the heart to let the other know the real reasons they are in this situation.  Do love and lies mix?  Check out this and start of this new series.

The Cowboy Wins a Bride by Cora Seton
The Cowboy's of Chance Creek #2

The Cowboys of Chance Creek are at it again in the second installment The Cowboy Wins a Bride.  I have grown to love these Montana cowboys and the characters in Chance Creek and this addition to the series did not let me down.
In this chapter we focus on Jamie and his love for Claire.  If you are a fan of this series, you know the previous proposal was a prank and this story is along those lines.  Jamie asks Claire to marry him right after Rob pulls a prank on her, so she assumes this is a prank also.  Jamie on the other hand is serious, so the pair wagers a bet.  By Labor Day the couple will wed if Jamie can keep his wondering hands to himself, and if he can’t then he has to send Claire on an around-the-world vacation.  There is also a twist in this Chance Creek story that you won’t want to miss.
The only issue I had with this book is 70 % in the story in a key point a character gets called the wrong name at a crucial reveal.  I can understand a mix up, but come on editors this was a reveal and twist in the story-line.  I absolutely hate that this has happened and hopefully this will get fixed before too many people buy this book.

The Cowboy Imports a Bride by Cora Seton
The Cowboy’s of Chance Creek #3

This third chapter in the Cowboy’s of Chance Creek entitled The Cowboy Imports a Bride and is set to release September 2013.

This installment gets us up close and personal with our favorite prankster Rob Matheson.  If you are a fan of the series you know that Ethan and Claire found a long lost sister and yes, Rob has his eyes set on her.  When Rob has a not-so-mid-life-crises he runs to Morgan who resided in Canada.  After coming to an agreement they decide to get engaged and hope that they can fall in love.

Seton has written a great addition to the Chance Creek Cowboy’s.  This was an enjoyable read and I love the fact that the author has written new characters into this series.  Hopefully we will be able to read about Chance Creek and its great characters well into the future.

The Cowgirl Ropes A Billionaire by Cora Seton

The Cowboys of Chance Creek # 4

The Cowgirl Ropes A Billionaire is the fourth addition to The Cowboys of Chance Creek Series by Cora Seton.

I love this series!  The community of Chance Creek and its characters hold a special place in my heart.  I loved The Cowboy’s E-mail order Bride and the pranks the guys make on each other, but as the series progresses the characters develop nicely.

I loved this installment just as much as the previous three.  The characters are still great and the plots are just as good.

You can’t go wrong with this light hearted, fun read!

Synopsis:

Bella Chatham will lose everything – her veterinary practice, her animal shelter, and even her home – if she can’t find another source of income, fast. So when her best friend signs her up for the hot new reality television show, Can You Beat a Billionaire, Bella accepts the challenge and hopes against hope she can win the ten million dollar prize. If she doesn’t, it’s bye-bye pet clinic and shelter, bye-bye Chance Creek, Montana, and hello to marriage to the billionaire for a year!

Evan Mortimer, billionaire, can’t believe he’s reduced to competing in a television contest to win a wife. Unfortunately, it’s the only foolproof way to secure his position as head of Mortimer Innovations. At least he’ll be able to dump his “spouse” at the end of the year. He has no intention of getting hitched for life.

Bella doesn’t expect her adversary to be handsome – or funny, or compassionate – but Evan’s all three, and he’s proving a tough competitor, too. When they end up sharing a tent – and a sleeping-bag – her body betrays her with a longing so deep it cuts her to the core. Still, this cowgirl must stay strong. If Evan uncovers her secret fears, he’ll use them to win the contest – and then he’ll own her for a year. She’ll be out of luck, out of cash, and stuck being Mrs. Mortimer until he kicks her to the curb. Too bad she can’t decide which is worse – winning the show and losing Evan forever, or losing the show and only being his temporary wife.

Evan can’t believe he’s falling for the one woman who doesn’t want him. This cowgirl’s not impressed by his money, his name, or his inability to sleep in a tent with her for an entire night, but every look and touch she gives him sends his desire through the roof. With a director determined to use his claustrophobia to make him look like a fool, and an adversary so sexy he can hardly see straight, he’ll need all his savvy to come out on top. Too bad he’s going to lose no matter how this show turns out. If he beats Bella, he’ll destroy the first woman he’s ever loved. If he doesn’t beat her, it’s bye-bye Mortimer Innovations.

Will either of them remember in time that it’s not who wins or who loses – it’s how they play the game that really counts?

The Sheriff Catches A Bride by Cora Seton

The Cowboys Of Chance Creek # 5

The Sheriff Catches A Bride is the fifth installment of The Cowboys of Chance Creek series by Cora Seton.

Finally, it’s Cab’s turn.  I was patiently waiting for Cab’s story, and it was just a good as the rest of the series.

The characters feel like family after reading about them for so long, so I am bias when saying that I love the characters and the town of Chance Creek.

I couldn’t wait to see who Ms. Seton paired Cab with and Rose was one of my favorite supporting characters so I was please to say that I was happily surprised and loved every minute of this book.

With the addition to twist in this story it made it unique to the basic Chance Creek storyline.  I can’t wait to see where Ms. Seton takes this series.

Synopsis:

When county sheriff Cab Johnson gets a hunch, he’s learned to trust it, and his hunch tells him Rose Bellingham is in a peck of trouble. Bad enough he’s in love with her, bad enough she’s already engaged to Jason Thayer. He’s got to figure out what she’s hiding before he loses her for good.

Rose can’t stand one more person meddling in her business, even if that person is a handsome, eligible sheriff. She’s been controlled for far too long. But since her fiancé’s father is both her boss and landlord, she can’t dump Jason until she’s got somewhere to run. She’s found the perfect place: a patch of forest outside town. But with Cab watching her every move, she’s hard pressed to finish her hideaway so she can make her escape. Meanwhile, she’s not the only one with problems. Can she find a way to help her friends, too?

Just when Cab solves one mystery, more pop up. Where does Rose keep disappearing to? What’s wrong with Mia Start? Why is Hannah Chatham lying to her fiancé? At least he’s let Rose know he’s interested. And if he’s not mistaken, she’s interested, too.

Rose’s hideaway is perfect, until her friends invade it to escape their own troubles. Can she trust them to keep its whereabouts a secret? Does she want to hide from Cab anymore? Now that Jason’s out of the picture, is it safe to follow her heart?

When two unexpected visitors arrive with secrets of their own, Chance Creek must brace for its deadliest night ever. Can Cab figure out the connections between all the mysteries fast enough?

Or will Rose and her friends pay the ultimate price?

The Cowboy Lassos A Bride by Cora Seton
The Cowboys of Chance Creek #6
The Matheson’s of Chance Creek # 1
So as many of you know I love the Chance Creek series by Cora Seton.  The Cowboy Lassos A Bride is the sixth installment of The Cowboys of Chance Creek series.  I’m not sure if this book is a spin off but it is the first book in the Matheson’s of Chance Creek.  It really doesn’t matter what you call it, if you are a fan like me you will love it nonetheless.

This book has all your favorite characters but mainly focuses on the Matheson’s.  I am so glad Mrs. Seton took this series in this direction.  I didn’t know if the series would end with the last book as we were running out of main characters to write about.

I have always loved Rob’s brothers, and strangely enough Holt himself was a character that really stood out.  So I was enamored when I found out that Jake was staring in this book.  I also liked Hannah in the previous book so it was a perfect fit for me.

If you enjoy romance or cowboys check out this series.

Synopsis:

Jake Matheson loves everything about ranching the Double-Bar-K, except for his father’s controlling nature. It’s bad enough the old man won’t step down and let him run things his own way. Now Holt has demanded that Jake find a wife—in the next thirty days. Jake knows just the woman he wants–Hannah Ashton–but they haven’t even gone on a date, let alone been together long enough for him to propose. He’ll have to work fast to secure her hand in marriage before his time is up.

Hannah Ashton loves the fifteen hundred pound bison she rescued from being the object of a trophy hunt. She’s grateful for Gladys’s temporary home on the Double-Bar-K—and for the chance it gives her to see Jake on a daily basis. But now his father, Holt, is threatening to kick Gladys off the ranch—or eat her!—unless Hannah follows some very strange instructions.

Jake is thrilled when Hannah agrees to move into his cabin, but his family seems dead set on breaking them apart. Meanwhile, Hannah is all set to head off to veterinary school, but Jake seems to want a traditional wife.

Will a pregnancy scare unite Jake and Hannah in a common goal? Or will it drive them apart for good?

Too Fast

Too Fast by Alexia Haynes

Too Fast is a perfect title for this book.  This one night stand turned romance all happens too fast.

Everything changes after Savannah has a one night stand with Luke and can’t get him out of her head. One night turns into a month, can this relationship last if it is going too fast?

This short semi dark read has a fast paced plot and good characters.

 Synopsis:
Twenty-year-old Savannah enjoys a one-time one-night stand because a real relationship would never fit into her busy schedule. Working two jobs and pursuing her degree takes all of her time. Besides, the guys she has dated haven't been much better than the random barfly.

It's a good thing Luke's body is honed by the long hours of carpentry and construction because he carries the weight of his family on his shoulders. School hasn't been an option for him since he dropped out to make the house payments his mother had failed to make.

Luke finds what he's been longing for in a night with Savannah. She's determined to stop with a one-night stand, but he wants more. Neither can deny the perfection of their passionate interludes, but with such imperfect lives, do they have any chance for a future together? Suddenly she's losing her heart and it's all happening much too fast.

Waiting On The Sidelines by Ginger Scott

Waiting On The Sidelines by Ginger Scott
Waiting On The Sidelines # 1

 4 1/2 Stars

Honestly,I put off reading this book a few months and now I want to kick myself for it.  I read the blurb and boy is it a blurb a long blurb.  The cover is what threw me off, it was hideous.  Even after reading the long blurb with the cover I had this drawn out story of a nerdy girl pining after a jock.  That is not the case.

Waiting on the Sidelines is the first installment of the self-titled series.  I dove right into this YA book and fell hard for the characters.  This is your typical EPIC teenage drama filled life but with Ms. Scott’s writing style it becomes so much more.

I instantly thought of My So-Called Life from back in the day.  Waiting on the Sidelines could easily become a TV series.  The book contains everything you go thought as a girl growing up through high school.  The good, the bad, and the gorgeous…everything you don’t want your parents to know.

The plot starts off as your basic freshman experience falling for an unattainable guy and quickly turns into an all-out affair that you can’t put down.

The characters development nicely as we follow the group throughout their high school experience.  Through the ups and downs I found myself rooting for these two even through the stupidity and mishaps along the way.

All in all, this saga is worth the read.  I can’t wait to see where Reed and Nolan end up next!

Synopsis:

Nolan Lennox had things figured out. Named after a baseball legend, she enjoyed being the Tomboy, her closet filled with her brother’s hand-me-downs, cut-off jeans and soccer shorts. But when her first trip to high school results in a broken heart from the first boy to ever make her heart flutter and cruel words from an older girl she once thought a family friend, Nolan starts to question the very person she thought she was and wonders if her humble upbringing can compete with the afforded luxuries of her privileged peers.

Throughout the next four years, Nolan struggles to maintain herself throughout her path of discovery, learning just how cruel teenagers can be through the pressures of underage drinking, sexuality and class. And despite how life seems to continue to work against her, she still manages to listen to her heart, falling deeper and deeper for the guy the entire town adores, even if he only sees her as a friend. Can Nolan strike a compromise between her own integrity and the boy she loves? And can she make him notice her before it’s too late?

Reed Johnson came to Coolidge High School with a lot of fanfare. The son of a hometown football legend and the brother of a local football hero, Reed wore all the pressures of carrying a town without hope into the spotlight. Thankfully, he had the talent to back it up. But when he meets a girl who makes him think twice about exactly what being a hero means, he starts to wonder if following in his brother’s footsteps might be all wrong.

Nolan Lennox was everything that was opposite of expected. She didn’t flirt, she didn’t drink and she didn’t sleep around. Nothing about her was easy, but something about her made Reed want to try harder. Though she didn’t look the part, she seemed to be spending a lot of time in Reed’s thoughts, and he wondered if she could be the one who made it all worthwhile. But could Reed handle letting her down? And would breaking her heart break him beyond repair?

Waiting on the Sidelines explores young love to its fullest, exposing how real young heartbreak and passion is and how important it is to discover yourself and hold onto your own identity. The story follows two young characters as they deal with mature situations, including the prevalence of bullying and promiscuity in today’s high school setting. Ultimately, Waiting on the Sidelines is a story of hope, honesty and those powerful, first true loves—the ones worth holding onto at any cost

Going Long By Ginger Scott
Waiting On The Sidelines # 2

4 Stars

After reading Waiting On The Sidelines, I had to immediately start Going Long.

Going Long is the second installment of Waiting On The Sidelines by Ginger Scott.

This sequel is not a disappointment and has every bit of heart the first book has.  I am thankful that Ms. Scott wrote a second book because the first book was phenomenal and I don’t think I could have just read one book about Reed and Nolan.

Going Long is the EPIC finale (or isit?) in Reed and Nolan’s saga.  We follow the couple through their tumultuous relationship as the head off for different colleges and hit repeat on some of the crazy drama from high school in this book.  With haphazard timing, a long distance relationship, and a few shady characters thrown in the mix will this couple withstand the test of time and get their HEA?

Ms. Scott is the queen of sucking me in and leaving me with a smile.  Her books tend to sweep me off my feet.  I enjoy her writing style as always and Going Long is one of my all-time favorites!  I am a fan for life and can’t wait to see what she writes next.

Synopsis:

They fell in love in high school and found their way back to one another despite the odds. But can first loves really be forever? For Reed Johnson, the dream was always football. But then Nolan Lennox took over his heart. Is he willing to give up his first love just to keep his true love? Or will he be too late?

Reed and Nolan’s story continues in "Going Long," sequel to "Waiting on the Sidelines."

The Lane Series by Kristine Wyllys

Wild Ones by Kristine Wyllys

The Lane # 1

4 Stars
Ok, first off I am not a review who reads the reviews then the books.  I read the books then write my review and post it several different places and read the reviews as I post.  I didn’t write this review like I usually do.

I was pulling up my “go to” sites where I post review to have the open in my browser for easy access to posting.  I just so happen to see the lack of stars for this book and read the first few review for this book.  I totally disagree with the other reviews.

Wild Ones is the premier book in Kristine Wyllys’ new series The Lane.

I loved this book.  The characters were made for each other.  With the right amount of angst, banter, and chemistry this book quickly leapt to my favorites list.  I can’t believe this was a debut author.  This series is a must follow for me.

I can’t wait to see the next addition to The Lane.

If you like perfectly flawed characters, fighting alpha men and stubborn chicks then pick up Wild Ones.

Synopsis:

Bri Martin likes her skirts too short, her heels too high, and trouble close at hand. So when big, brooding underground boxer Luke Turner comes into the bar where she works and starts a fight before she brings his first drink, she can't help being intrigued. Luke is everything she never wanted and everything she can't resist.

Soon, Luke is showing up everywhere Bri is, and she can't break free of his hold on her, nor does she want to. When her best friend turns on her, it's Luke who is there. When Luke's opponent comes after her to send Luke a message, it's he who comes to her rescue.

Before Bri knows it, she's caught in the midst of a rivalry between her boyfriend and her boss, both of whom are not content to settle their scores inside the ring. She swore she'd never live this life, so like the one she once ran from. But only by confronting her past can she decide where her future lies…and whether Luke can be a part of it.

The Real Prom Queens of Westfield High

The Real Prom Queens of Westfield High by Laurie Boyle

Love reality TV?  I do.  Love drama? Check.  Mix in some YA and a few social outcast and you have the perfect book.  I loved The Real Prom Queens!

I always seem to be rooting for the underdog and this book is full of people to root for.  The characters are great for this high school setting full of twists and turns.

The plot takes over as these wanna-be’s are thrown into stardom and not sure how to react.  The journey is hysterical in this coming of age book.

Oh, and I love the cover!

Synopsis:

Shannon’s ‘clique’ is just her and her best friend and she has a super-embarrassing nickname that won’t go away. It is no huge shock when her classmates vote her least likely to be crowned Prom Queen. What is shocking is the new hidden camera reality show she finds herself starring in, titled The Prom Queen Wannabes! Shannon and two other Wannabes must battle to be elected Prom Queen and snag the One! Million! Dollar! prize. After a summer of makeovers and training at Prom Queen Camp, the hidden cameras watch the three of them enter their senior year equipped with secret skills to help wage war on the popular set. Things at Westfield High are about to get ugly, and Shannon must decide how much she's willing to give up for a shot at winning that tiara.

Men of the Show by Rhonda Shaw

The Changeup by Rhonda Shaw
Men of The Show # 1

I absolutely loved the opener of Men of the Show, The Changeup.  I love sports themed books and hot guys, so this one was in my ball park.

The plot was focused on baseball and romance and I loved the story-line!  The characters were interesting.  I was so swept up in the plot that the book ended before I wanted it to.

I can’t wait for more of this series.

Synopsis:

Playing for keeps

After nine years of striking out in the dating department, Maddie Hamlin is throwing in the towel. But just as this mom resolves to remain single, she meets sweet and sexy pitching phenom Chase Patton at a family dinner. He’s perfect for her--aside from the fact he’s only twenty-two.

Chase knows he should be focusing on his rookie year with the Detroit Rockets, but he can’t stop thinking about Maddie. He doesn’t care that the beautiful school counselor is twelve years older, and he’s already lost his heart to her adorable daughter. When an incredible date leads to an incredible night of passion, he knows he never wants to let her go.

But dating in the media spotlight is a whole new ball game. Maddie quickly discovers that not everyone accepts their unconventional relationship and that finding love may mean losing everything else.

Tell Me When

Tell Me When by Stina Lindenblatt

Tell Me When is the best debut book I have read this year.  This amazing author and her beautifully broken characters will have your tearing up in no time.  The manner that she addresses the sensitive plot was tactful.

I was so addicted to Amber & Marcus’s story that I didn’t stop until the last sentence.  The characters develop nicely as they come full circle.

The gut-wrenching plot is unique and full of romance.  The highs are highs and the lows are lows leaving you rooting for these two characters to find their happily ever after.

Synopsis:

Amber Scott should be enjoying life as a college freshman. She should be pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She should be working hard to make sense of her precalculus math class.

She shouldn’t be waking up her college roommate with screaming nightmares. She shouldn’t be flashing back, reliving the three weeks of hell she barely survived last year. And she definitely shouldn’t be spending time with sexy player Marcus Reid.

But engineering student Marcus is the only one keeping Amber from failing her math course, so she grudgingly lets him into her life. She never expects the king of hookups will share his painful past. Or that she’ll tell him her secrets in return, opening up and trusting him in a way she thought she’d never be able to again.

When their fragile future together is threatened by a stalker Amber thought was locked away for good, Marcus is determined to protect her. And Amber is determined to protect Marcus…even if that means pushing him away.
