All or Nothing Series by C.C. Gibbs

All He Wants

All or Nothing # 1

an1

Ok, this is the last review of 2013 and I chose the All or Nothing series by C.C. Gibbs.  This is the last series I have read in 2013 and I have to say that I went out with a bang.

Every now and then I read an erotic romance.  I like the romance aspect and to be honest sometimes the YA/NA just don’t cut it for me.  This series satisfied all the hotness and romance I need in a great series.

I loved the cliffhangeresque ending.  That gave me just enough to want to read the next book in the series.

SO, now to the characters.  Dominic Knight what can I say about this hottie?  Well to start off with his name kicks ass.  I mean who couldn’t fall in love for a guy who’s last name is Knight?  And Kate Hart?  That’s a pretty cool name too.  So props for naming your characters some great names, Ms. Gibbs.

Dominic is the total alpha male, player who needs to be brought down a notch or two.  He is cocky and confident oh and did I mention a millionaire.  Not quite realistic but hey, that’s why we are reading this right or at least that is why I am reading it.

Kate Hart is the perfect person to bring Dominic to his knees.  She doesn’t give into his BS and calls him on his shit.  Needless to say that the banter in this book is off the chain as well as the chemistry.

The plot is your basic romance with some added twists and surprises along the way making this series one you will want to follow.

Synopsis:

Dominic Knight is a man who is always in control. A self-made billionaire by the age of twenty-three, a genius of innovation, and CEO of a global tech empire, Knight always gets what he wants. And he wants Kate Hart. . .
A rising star of cyber forensics, Kate Hart is well aware of Knight's reputation as a master manipulator, uncompromising leader, and demanding lover. But she's determined to stay cool and professional-no matter how hot and bothered her new boss makes her feel.
First he appears in her dreams. Then he comes to her in the night. And so begins a journey of erotic awakening and discovery as rich and powerful as Knight himself. In locales from the sultry red-light district of Amsterdam to the private sexual playgrounds of Hong Kong, Kate will shed every inhibition and surrender every part of herself-body, mind, and soul-to give her lover all he craves, all he needs, and all he demands . . .

All He Needs

All or Nothing #2

an2

I quickly jumped on to the second book in the series which brings heat to the series and also dives into the flaws of the characters. In my opinion I really liked this installment of the series. I think that Ms. Gibbs brought her characters to life in the All or Nothing series. And I can not wait for the next installment.

I loved seeing Dominic brought to his knees by Kate.  I also loved seeing the more vulnerable side of these characters and the journey they take to fall in love!

Sorry this review is so short I want to post it before the 2014!

Synopsis:

Brilliant. Wealthy. Powerful. Dominic Knight is one of the hottest tech developers in the world--and the most demanding lover Kate Hart has ever known. Whether in the boardroom or the bedroom, he is always in charge. But there is one thing he cannot control: Kate's fiery heart...
As a master in her field, talented Kate surpassed Dominic's wildest expectations. As a woman of uncommon intelligence and beauty, she unlocked something deep within him. Yet since their professional relationship--and erotically charged affair--came to an end, the fire in him has only grown stronger.
Now, the man who has everything will do whatever it takes to reclaim the woman he lost. From Boston and Paris to Singapore and San Francisco, he will lure Kate back into his elite world of privilege and passion. Together, they will test the limits of desire and the boundaries of discipline. For both, this is uncharted territory--naked, reckless, and uninhibited. But when Dominic's deadliest enemies target Kate, he must face his darkest fears...and admit to himself that she is all he needs.

Innocence Series by Alessandra Torre

The Diary of Brad de Luca

Innocence # 1.5

brad de luca

Ok, I must confess that I have not read the first book in this series so this book was a little short and left me a confused.

Then I went back and read some reviews and the blurb for the first book in the series, Blindfolded Innocence, and realized that this is a companion of sorts to the first book and written in Brad’s POV.

So this short story has piqued my interest and I want to go back and read this series.

Synopsis:

I was happy with my life. And who wouldn’t be? Beautiful women, money, a job that I could sleep through and still make bank. But I was bored. And I never could walk away from a challenge.
This challenge turned out to be brunette. Feisty. Just the way I like them. But innocent. Too innocent for me. Too innocent to do anything other than sample and then toss back. Anything more would be too risky, too much work.
I was unprepared for Julia Campbell. I should have done my homework, should have looked before jumping off that cliff. Ditching her proved to be problematic, my sexual needs greater than my common sense.
She was different. She became more than a challenge.
She may just bring my world crashing down.

This novella is meant to complement, and be read after, Blindfolded Innocence, a #1 Erotica Bestseller.(

Something More Series by Tara West

Say When by Tara West
Something More # 1

Say When is this first installment in the Something More series by Tara West.

In this book we meet ex solider Andres and rich girl Christina.  These two are both running from a past while trying to make a future.  This story of strength and the ability to overcome and rise up is a true beauty.

I liked the start of this series.  The characters have depth.  I can’t wait for more of this series.

Synopsis:

He told me to say when, but I can’t. Not with Andrés. It’s so hard to say anything when he’s trailing feather soft kisses down my neck, or when his touch sends hot currents of lust rippling across my skin.

Then there’s the way he smiles and offers soft words of encouragement when I’m creating art, almost like he believes I have talent.

He’s not like any guy I’ve ever met. Not like my ex-fiancée. Not like my father. He’s got me thinking that maybe we can have something more. More than just lust, degradation, and abuse.

And now I’m scared, because that means I’ll have to trust him with more than just my body, but with my heart, too.

Say Yes by Tara West
Something More # 2

In Say Yes the second installment in the Something More series by Tara West we pick up where we left off in Say When

Christina and Andres try to work out their relationship with a few hiccups and misunderstandings along the way.  With some life changes events, can this couple stand the tests?

I have slowly fallen in love with this series.  I know there is great things to come from Something More.  The characters are flawed, believable and likeable.

I can't wait for more!

Synopsis:
Andrés, why can’t it be enough that I love you? That I want to spend forever with you. Why must you expect so much more? I’m not ready for marriage and a family. I don’t know if I ever will be.

Christina, I need to know that what I’m putting into this relationship isn’t all for nothing. To me, you mean everything. But I won’t be your stepping stone. Because as much as it would kill me, if you refuse to commit to something more, I will walk away.

Will Christina ever be ready? Will Andrés stay or walk? Will their love endure or is it doomed before they even have a chance?

Say Forever by Tara West
Something More # 3

I have to say when Tara sent me this Third installment in the Something More series and I read the title my heart sank a little.  The title Say Forever sounds like the end of the Something More series and folks I hate to say that this is the final installment.  And then I was thinking who can take over my Andres fix and I can say that no one will be able to take his place.

I have said this a million times, but for you new followers out there I do not retell the book in my reviews.  I feel like the authors write a book for us to read and they are the professionals and work hard writing so why spoil their work?

Haivng said that I loved how Tara closed out this unforgetable series.  The emotions she puts into her characters will have you grabing for the tissue and dabbing your eyes.  I can say that I got teared up a few times.

Like I said in my other reivews of this series, the charaters are flawed to perfection and likeable giving readers the ability to relate to Christna and Andres.  The situations this couple are thrown into are realistic.  Tara West has the ability to bring her characters to life within her books.

I hate that this is the last installment for the Something More series but the ending was beautifully written.

Synopsis:

Christina
I love Andrés so much, more than anyone I’ve ever loved before, yet there are days when I don’t know if I want to scream, swear, or fall to pieces. We’re trying to plan a future together, but our families won’t leave us alone. What’s worse is I can see Andrés is not happy.

They say love trumps all hurdles, but some days I wonder will “our” love trump “our” hurdles? Then I look into Andrés’s sensual smile and passionate gaze and I fall in love all over again.

Andrés
When I told Christina I would love her forever, I meant every word. The nightmares are back, and I don’t know how to stop them, but I have to be strong for her. This pressure from my family and my job feels like a noose around my neck, but I will do whatever it takes to give Christina the life she deserves. She’s everything to me, and I won’t lose her.

Drew + Fable Series by Monica Murphy

Three Broken Promises by Monica Murphy

Drew + Fable  # 3

promises

Three Broken Promises is the third installment in the Drew + Fable series by Monica Murphy.  When I picked up this book I didn’t really know it was part of a series.  But when I started reading the book, I could tell that this book was part of something much more than this book and I could tell it was something great.

I really want to go back and read the first two book in this series based on this book alone.  Three Broken Promises has great stand-alone quality and I didn’t feel lost.  As a matter of fact, I didn’t know that it was part of a series until I finished it and started the review process.

This book blew me away with the emotions and affection that theses characters had for each other and in general.  When tragedy strikes home it brings Jen and Colin together, but not the way either want it to be.

This story is a coming of age heartfelt journey about letting the past go and looking forward.

I really liked this book and can’t wait for more from Monica Murphy!

Synopsis:

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.
I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.

A Groom For Christmas

So I am no stranger to Cara Marsi’s books, as a matter of fact I am a fan.  So when I got the opportunity to review a book by her that was not part of her Redemption series I was really excited.  I have only ever read her series and sometimes when you really like a series by an author you get let down by their stand-alones.  This was not the case with A Groom For Christmas.

Since we drew names this year for Christmas and I did my Christmas shopping for my kids on Black Friday and it was in the 70’s the last two days, I decided to get into the Christmas spirit with a Christmas inspired book.  This is the first time I have read a Christmas book and I have to say that it will really get you into the spirit.

This book was more romance than Christmas, but that didn’t bother me at all.  I love the idea of a fake fiancé and tent to gravitate toward books of that subgenre.  If you do too then try this cute Christmas book.

I am not good a giving a synopsis of the books without giving too much away, so I’ll just say that if you are a fan of Cara Marsi or fake fiancé books then pick this one up!

Synopsis:

This sensuous romance is like a Hallmark Christmas movie with some intense love scenes.
When a young woman hires her hometown’s former bad boy to be her pretend fiancé for the holidays, she finds she can’t wrap up her feelings as easily as a Christmas gift.
New York jewelry designer Graceann Palmer has two days to find a fiancé to bring home to Pennsylvania for the holidays so her matchmaking mama will quit fixing her up with jerks. The Falcon, a motorcycle-riding, leather-clad former high school crush, helped her out once before. Maybe he'll do it again.
Jake Falco, man of many mysteries, is back in town on a mission—one the people of Spirit Lake most likely won't appreciate. When Graceann presents him with her crazy scheme, it gives him something he's always wanted—a chance to get to know Graceann. It also gives him the perfect opportunity to add fuel to his project of revenge.
But as Jake and Graceann grow closer, their engagement-of-convenience begins to feel like the real deal—until Jake’s secrets are revealed.
Can a relationship that began with lies and secrets bloom like a rare Christmas rose into happily-ever-after?

Reckless Series by Gina Robinson

Reckless Longing By Gina Robinson

Reckless # 1

rl

Reckless Longing is the first installment in the Reckless series by Gina Robinson.  This series kind of just fell in my lap and I am so glad it did.

This book reminded me of Beautiful Disaster with a hint of Effortless mixed in.  This book was definitely a good read.  I loved the characters and the plot.  I liked the sub plots and the secondary characters as well.

This book was written just how I like them with drama, hot guys, and crazy misunderstandings.  The characters are hiding secrets, underlying emotions, and falling in love all at the same time.

I fell in love with Logan.  He is so hot.  Add in his mysterious quality and I was swept up at the first hand hold.

I can’t wait for the next chapter in this series.

Synopsis:

Ellie Martin hates her beautiful, man-crazy mother. Her mother’s wild and wanton behavior has left Ellie with a deep longing. To escape. To belong. To know who her real dad is. To really be loved. Her mother finally crosses a line that sends Ellie running, escaping to college with one, focused goal–to find and confront her bio dad, who doesn’t even know she exists. Then she meets Logan. Hot, charming, and troubled. He turns her world upside down and puts all her plans in jeopardy.
Logan Walker is hiding a shameful and painful secret. One that nearly cost him everything. When he meets the beautiful and mysterious Ellie at a Week of Welcome event, something inside him awakens and he finds himself drawn to her.
But the attraction they both feel for each other is as delicate as the web of secrets they each hide behind. And as the truths are revealed, their reckless longing may not survive the fallout.

Reckless Secrets by Gina Robinson

Reckless # 2

rs

Reckless Secrets is the second installment in the Reckless Series by Gina Robinson.  I absolutely fell in love with the first book in this series so when I got the opportunity to read this book I jumped on it.

So Ellie and Logan’s story caught my attention in the first book and I was not really sure where the story would go from there.  Well congratulations Ms. Robinson you exceeded my expectations and then some.

I know that sometimes series start off strong and then take a downhill dive, but this second book is just as captivating as the first.

From the first page, I was engulfed and this additions just made me love the characters so much more!

I can’t wait to see where Ms. Robinson takes this series.  I hope we see more Zave, Collin, and Dex maybe a spin-off?

Synopsis:

Everyone Has a Secret
At nineteen, Ellie Martin is finally happy. Deliriously, delightfully, delectably happy. Her junior year in college, while not without some major issues, is turning out better than she ever dreamed. She's finally found closure to a question that has bothered her for as long as she can remember. She's even been able to put some serious distance between herself and her twisted mother. Best of all, she's in love with the hot, handsome, and mysterious Logan Walker.
If only she could share with Logan the one thing she must keep secret. The one relationship that, if he finds out about it, will blow apart everything that brings her happiness.
Even as Ellie and Logan learn to open up to each other, even as they get closer than they've ever gotten to anyone else before, the reckless secrets they're holding on to may just be the thread that unravels everything.

Swans Landing Series by Shana Norris

Surfacing by Shana Norris

Swans Landing # 1

OK first off let me say that I love Shana Norris.  I love her writing style and this book did not disappoint.

This is the very first mermaid book I have read.  I’m not too keen on this subject, but after dong an author interview with Shana I had to read this book.  I love the approach to the whole sea creature world.  I and want to know more.

I was bound to my Kindle from the first chapter until the last word.  I didn’t want to put this book down and felt that it was beautifully written.  The characters in this book are flawed and believable…well as believable as a mermaid or finfolk as they are called in this book can be.

The charisma and compassion I felt for these people while reading this book took me on a journey that I didn’t want to end.

I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Mara Westray has just lost her mother, and now, being shipped off to live with the father she doesn’t know is not how she imagined grieving. She’s already counting down the days until she turns eighteen and can leave the tiny island of Swans Landing.
But from the moment she steps off the ferry, nothing is as ordinary as it looks. Whispers of a haunting song on the wind make her see impossible things, and she isn’t sure she can trust her judgment about what is real and what isn’t anymore. Maybe she can’t even trust her judgment about quiet Josh Canavan, whose way of speaking in riddles and half-truths only confuses her more, luring her deeper into the secrets hidden beneath the ocean’s surface.
As she tries to unravel the events that led to her mom fleeing the island sixteen years ago, Mara finds that the biggest secret of all is only the beginning.

My Series Review

The Jane Austen Academy series has quickly become one of my favorite new YA series.  I work in education even though I am a nurse and I can easily see this series on the list for our middle school students to read.

This mild YA series is a great modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park  They are  a great retelling.  Sometimes I am reluctant to even attempt to read a retelling especially a retelling of Jane Austen.  But this series works.  It works so much so that I devoured all 4 books released in this series in 2 days.

I am so caught up in the drama, scandals, girls and now boys in this series.  I putting this series in my top 20 and also the next book in the series on my TBR list.

The characters in Ms. Gray’s books come to life in front of your eyes.  The writing style and depth had me engulfed and invested in these girls from the first page of Fall For You until the last page of Suddenly You.  And Ms. Gray has a way of leaving you wanting more but giving you just enough to satisfy your fix.  These book are really like a drug or maybe I am just a book addict.

I definitely recommend this book for girls ages 12 and up.  I would also say that this series is great for any YA book lover!

I can’t wait to read more!

Synopsis:

The last thing that the girls at the elite Jane Austen Academy need is hot guys to flirt with. But over the summer the school has been sold, and like it or not, the guys are coming. And it’s about to turn the Academy—and the lives of its students—totally upside down…
The Jane Austen Academy series are modern retellings of Jane Austen classics set at a beachside California boarding school.

Bound By Hades Series by Reese Monroe

Forged By Fate by Reese Monroe

Bound By Hades # 1

fbf

Forged By Fate is the first installment in the Bound By Hades series by Reese Monroe.  This series opener has given this series a strong start.

With action, demons, and romance and then throw in a couple of hot vampires this series is sure to be a hit.

The banter of the characters had me laughing out loud.  I loved Sadie and Theo’s connection.

I can’t wait for Justin’s story and see who knocks him on his butt!

Synopsis:

He’s waited more than 900 years to love her…
Being the Gatekeeper to Hades is no small feat, and waiting almost a millennia to meet your mate is damn near impossible. But Theo Bradford’s mark has finally surfaced on his intended. Now all he has to do is find her and convince her to embrace her supernatural heritage.

Young genius, Sadie Nowland, has got life figured out. Graduating college at the age of eighteen and accepting a six-figure job is just what she needs to prove she’s made something of herself. Sneaking Candy

Sneaking Candy by Lisa Burstein

sc

I loved this cute story!  The characters were perfect, the plot was genius, and the double life was a bonus.

This book has a little bit of everything romance, mystery, and double identity.  For those readers who like books about book then pick the up the short, sweet Sneaking Candy.

Synopsis:

All I ever wanted was to make a name for myself as Candice Salinas, creative writing grad student at the University of Miami. Of course, secretly I already have made a name for myself: as Candy Sloane, self-published erotic romance writer. Though thrilled that my books are selling and I have actual fans, if anyone at UM found out, I could lose my scholarship…and the respect of my faculty advisor, grade-A-asshole Professor Dylan.
Enter James Walker, super-hot local barista and—surprise!—my student. Even though I know a relationship is totally off-limits, I can’t stop myself from sneaking around with James, taking a few cues from my own erotic writing…if you catch my drift. Candy’s showing her stripes for the first time in my real life, and I’ve never had so much fun. But when the sugar high fades, can my secrets stay under wraps?(

Let It Snow

Let It Snow by Erica Ridley

lit

Ok if you follow my review by now you know that I do not retell the book in my review so sometimes the reviews are very short.  That is the case with this novella.  It was very short.

I really didn’t get the medieval modern time fantasy theme  but I did like the story.  This Christmas story has all the great characteristics that you would want in a medieval story.  Castles, a princess, and even a hero with a bounty on his head will have the reader caught up in this unique tale.

Synopsis:

Adventurer Lance Desmond needs to produce a fortune before his arch-rival collects the bounty on his head. He risks an ancient curse to retrieve treasure hidden within icebound Castle Cavanaugh, only to become trapped inside. Not with the gold he so desperately needs, but with medieval Princess Marigold who's been cooling her heels since... well, medieval times.
The lonely princess refuses to acknowledge the blossoming attraction between them. Not just because she deserves a better future than a penniless rogue. But because at midnight, he'll vanish like all her other would-be heroes. And the evergreen in the parlor will have one more figurine hanging from its boughs...

Elect Blog Tour

Exerpt:

Let’s make a pact.” Chase put his hand on my shoulder.

“A pact?” I sniffled and turned to him. “What kind of pact?”

“One that’s forever. One that protects people rather than hurts them.”

“How do we do that?” I was suddenly interested. What if I could make all the hurt go away? What if I could save everyone!

“We do this.” Chase pulled out his pocketknife and cut open his hand, then nodded to me to do the same thing. Without pausing I cut open my hand and handed back the knife. “Blood brothers. We’re never gonna hurt each other and we’re gonna save those like your ma, Nixon. Ones who can’t save themselves. We’re going to protect them.”

“How?” I watched as the blood dripped from my open palm.

“Rules.” Chase shrugged. “They keep people safe, right? At least that’s what my mom says.” He smiled. “We make rules and we start our own club. That way, we don’t have to listen to anyone but us.”

I liked it. I chewed on my lower lip. “What do we call ourselves?”

“The chosen?” Chase offered.

“No, that sounds lame. We have to sound… more powerful than that.”

My eyes flickered to the road, and a sign poked into the ground. It said election. “Elect.” I pointed. “Let’s call ourselves The Elect.” It made sense; after all, the president was elected, wasn’t he? We weren’t exactly chosen, but we were making the choice, we were electing ourselves protectors. That’s what we were.

“Who else can join?” Chase asked.

“Tex and Phoenix. They’ll want to.” A weight suddenly felt like it was being lifted off my twelve-year-old shoulders. “Should we shake on it?”

“Yeah.” Chase smashed his hand against mine as our blood mixed. “No going back, Nixon.”

“No.” I shook my head. “No going back.”

I pressed my fingers to my temples and watched, replaying that moment over and over again in my head as the outline of Chase and Tracey flickered in the moonlight. Would he really do this to me? After all the shit we’d been through?

I gauged her reaction, hoping that I would be wrong. Praying to God that Trace would just this once listen to me. Her eyes flickered with interest for a few brief seconds before she looked down at the ground.

“Shit.” I waited in the shadows. A part of me knew this would happen. The part that told me to damn my feelings to hell and ignore all the warning signs that I’d been seeing. But now it seemed like it was too late. I stayed, planted where I was, watching, waiting.

“Chase, you can’t…” Trace shook her head. “You can’t be like this. We can’t do this!”

“We aren’t doing anything,” Chase said in low tones, reaching for Trace’s hand. “Don’t you?” He looked directly at me, although all he saw was a shadow. I knew I was well hidden. “Don’t you feel the same way?”

Trace jerked her hand away from Chase’s. “It doesn’t matter what I feel. It’s not about me, Chase.”

“But it is.” Chase reached for her again. This time her hand grasped his in such an intimate embrace I thought I was going to vomit all over the ground. The outside air was cold as hell as little pieces of ice tried to find their way into my wool coat.

“It isn’t.” Trace sighed. “It never was.”

Chase jerked her toward him. She fell against his chest and looked up into his eyes. “What are you doing?”

Chase sighed. “What I should have done a long time ago.” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her in for a kiss. Their lips touched.

I had to look away.

The only sound in the night was that of my soft footsteps as I walked away… leaving my heart in broken pieces where I’d last stood. She was lost to me; it wasn’t even the Sicilians that had taken her, but my best friend.

A gunshot rang out loud and clear in the night air. I turned back around just in time to see Trace collapse into Chase’s arms.

Guest Post with Lorriane Wilson

OK Guys I really liked Confessions on a Chalet Girl from author Lorraine Wilson.  She is not a writer in the US but is trying to get recognized here.  I told her I would hekp spred the word on her Chalet Girls series.  In return she has taken pics on some markets and written a guest post.

Switzerland at Christmas is magical - snow, warm crackling fires and delicious mugs of chocolat chaud... In fact I'm lucky enough to be in Switzerland right now, working on my next Chalet Girl story and carrying out research. It's a tough job but someone has to do it, at least that's what I've told my husband!
I included the Christmas markets at Montreux, Switzerland, in the story. I love the festive markets on the lakeshore of Lac Leman and while the market in Salzburg, Austria is more impressive (even curing my other half of his Scrooge-like tendencies!) the Montreux markets are special for me. The lakeshore at Montreux with its views of Evian and the French Alps is one of my favourite places in the world at any time of the year.
But at Christmas the decorations are gorgeous, the food scrumptious, the gifts to buy entirely unique and lots of the handbags I've made and sold have been created from Indian fabric purchased at one of the stalls. Chateau Chillon even holds its own medieval Christmas market and you can take the cog railway up the mountain past snow-laden fir trees to see Père Noël - http://www.montreuxnoel.com/en-site-1-christmas-market.html
I will be there again this year (for which I blame my editor ;-) If you can't make it for real why not go along with my heroine Amy?

The Switch

The Switch by Dawn Pendelton and Andrea Heltsley

The Switch is a cute YA book about twins and the boys they love. I work at an elementary school and I have had several sets of twins and some triplets attend throughout the years. I used to ask them if they ever play pranks or switch and most of them have. The idea of identical twins switching amuses me, so I thought that I would love this book from the synopsis.

I enjoyed this cute read. The plot was fun and had lots of drama, some bullying issues and was overall a light YA read.

Synopsis:

Honor and Faith haven't switched places since they were kids. When Honor begs her twin sister to go on a date with her boyfriend, Cameron, Faith reluctantly agrees. The problem is that she lets things go too far. Now Honor and Cameron have broken up and he won't stop calling Faith, claiming he felt something more for her. The scary thing is, Faith felt it too. The problem, however, is the one rule that sisters and best friends abide by: don't date their ex's.

Honor has her own problems. Breaking it off with Cameron was the right thing to do, but now his best friend, Parker, won't leave her alone. The more time they spend together, the more Honor starts to heal. Suddenly, Honor sees Parker as more than just a friend who cares – and she wants more.

Neither sister wants to complicate things further and cross those boundaries, but they can't stop their emotions for the guys in their lives. Turns out, the switch is the one thing that has changed them forever.

Summer in Winter Series by C.J. Scott

Ruin by C.J. Scott
Summer in Winter # 1

Ruin is the debut in the Summer in Winter series by C. J. Scott.

I was drawn to this book by the HOT cover. That and the fact that I am a sucker for a series and I thought let's give this book a go. That's about all this book has going for it. I could see this book going in all different directions, but the directions it took was down.

I am not sure how to review this book. This book was short. The whole thing felt rushed and unrelatable. The concept of this book was great, but the follow through fell flat. The plot drug at times and I did not connect with the characters. The characters fell for each other way too fast.

I did, however, like the twist at the end. And I would also read this author again. I have had some books that I didn't like the first book in the series and turned out loving the rest. So by all means, I would give this series another shot in book 2.

Synopsis:

Kate Bell isn't perfect. Not even close. The things she got up to in college would cause her parents to fall off their pedestals in shock. Home for the summer vacation, Kate settles in for a long, boring break in the tiny backwater of Winter with folks who still treat her like she's twelve.

Then Ben Parker arrives and suddenly Winter gets interesting. He's hot, mysterious and good with his hands. Kate falls for him instantly, but her cop father warns her to stay away. But how can she stay away from someone as compelling as Ben? Someone who thinks she's perfect just the way she is?

When Ben's secrets catch up to him, not only is Kate's heart in danger of being broken, but Ben's entire future could be ruined.

RUIN is a new adult contemporary romance intended for mature readers. It contains strong language and sexual situations.

Come Back to Me

Come Back to Me by Coleen Patrick

This book drew me in with its cover and when reading the synopsis I thought now that's a winner. WRONG! I just didn't get it. This coming of age story is about a girl who is on the road to finding herself after having addition issues while dealing with her friend's death.
The plot was ok, but the romance was lacking. The story drug in place and the characters were bland to say the least. I struggled to get thought this one.

Synopsis:
Whitney Denison can't wait to start over.

She thought she had everything under control, that her future would always include her best friend Katie… Until everything changed.

Now her life in Bloom is one big morning after hangover, filled with regret, grief, and tiny pinpricks of reminders that she was once happy. A happy she ruined. A happy she can't fix.

So, she is counting down the days until she leaves home for Colson University, cramming her summer with busywork she didn't finish her senior year, and taking on new hobbies that involve glue and glitter, and dodging anyone who reminds her of her old life.

When she runs into the stranger who drove her home on graduation night, after she'd passed out next to a ditch, she feels herself sinking again. The key to surviving the summer in Bloom is unraveling whatever good memories she can from that night.

But in searching for answers, she'll have to ask for help and that means turning to Evan, the stranger, and Kyle, Katie's ex-boyfriend. Suddenly, life flips again, and Whitney finds herself on not only the precipice of happy but love, too, causing her to question whether she can trust her feelings, or if she is falling into her old patterns of extremes.

As she uncovers the truth about her memories, Whitney sees that life isn't all or nothing, and that happy isn't something to wait for, that instead, happy might just be a choice.

Ink is Thicker than Water

Ink is Thicker than Water by Amy Spalding

Ok, folks. I am an Amy Spalding fan. The Reece Malcolm List was a great YA read. So I was kind of expecting this read to be through the roof. Instead it fell through the floor.

I have been a finicky reader lately and feel like I am in a reading slump. The books I have read lately have been just ok and this book can be lumped in that category. I had a hard time sticking with it and almost DNF. This is shocking because I loved the author's previous book.

This book has a unique plot and characters. I loved mom and stepdad's character the most. The book is YA to the core and the romance is bland. The plot didn't seem to go anywhere and when it did it didn't go far. It sickens me to give this author a bad review, but felt it unfair to my reader to rate this book better than it is because I like the author.

Synopsis:

For Kellie Brooks, family has always been a tough word to define. Combine her hippie mom and tattooist stepdad, her adopted overachieving sister, her younger half brother, and her tough-love dad, and average Kellie's the one stuck in the middle, overlooked and impermanent. When Kellie's sister finally meets her birth mother and her best friend starts hanging with a cooler crowd, the feeling only grows stronger.

But then she reconnects with Oliver, the sweet and sensitive college guy she had a near hookup with last year. Oliver is intense and attractive, and she's sure he's totally out of her league. But as she discovers that maybe intensity isn't always a good thing, it's yet another relationship she feels is spiraling out of her control.

It'll take a new role on the school newspaper and a new job at her mom's tattoo shop for Kellie to realize that defining herself both outside and within her family is what can finally allow her to feel permanent, just like a tattoo.

Gone Wild

Gone Wild by Ever McCormick

gone wild

If you like outdoors and unexpected romance ?  Then this is the book for you.  I kept thinking in the first few chapters that this setting would make for a great paranormal shifter book.  I kept waiting for a wolf or bear to pop out.  This setting would be a great shifter setting.

Adam didn’t shift into any great animal, but he did find the girl of his dreams in this book.  Ina comes out to the woods to find herself and get over a break.  Boy does she ever get over the dork she was dating.

This book was in the middle of the pack for me on plot and characters.  It was not slow paced or boring, but was missing something I can’t quite but my finger on.

There are a few twists and turns and some mild mystery that lures readers in.

And have you looked at the cover.  Holy Booty! IS that a Kardashain?  The cover is bootylishous.

Synopsis:

Just before college graduation, Ina--star of her senior class--made a mistake that went viral. Then, when life seemed like it couldn’t get any worse, she walked in on her boyfriend cheating with her roommate. To get away, Ina ventures to a cabin on a remote mountain, intent on some solitary time.
She doesn’t count on Adam -- the man who watches over the cabins -- being so distractingly sexy. Adam came to the mountain to get distance from anything that could cause him pain, and Ina stirs feelings in him he thought he’d left behind.
As Adam and Ina open up about their pasts, the mountain seems like the perfect setting for a second chance at love.
Until they realize they’re not alone.

Stir Me Up

Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins

srit me up

In Stir Me Up we meet Julian and Cami.  Julian is a marine that gets injured in war becoming an amputee and Cami is an aspiring chef.  Their dramatic journey comes to life within the pages of Stir Me Up.

The beautifully written tragic love story is filled with all the emotions you can imagine then some.  This one-of-a-kind plot tugged at my heartstrings the entire book.  The passion these characters have for each other is endearing leaving the reading sympathetic and memorized.

I fell in love with these characters and this book.  With an awesome plot, perfectly flawed character, and coming of age genre this book is on my top pick list!

Synopsis:

Cami Broussard has her future all figured out. She'll finish her senior year of high school, then go to work full-time as an apprentice chef in her father's French restaurant, alongside her boyfriend, Luke. But then twenty-year-old ex-Marine Julian Wyatt comes to live with Cami's family while recovering from serious injuries. And suddenly Cami finds herself questioning everything she thought she wanted.
Julian's all attitude, challenges and intense green-brown eyes. But beneath that abrasive exterior is a man who just might be as lost as Cami's starting to feel. And Cami can't stop thinking about him. Talking to him. Wanting to kiss him. He's got her seriously stirred up. Her senior year has just gotten a lot more complicated….

Love Story Series by Rachel Schuring

In Search of a Love Story by Rachel Schurig

Love Story # 1

love story

In Search of a Love Story is the first installment in the Love Story series by Rachel Schurig.

I really enjoyed this book despite it being quite predictable.  I figured out who the “prince charming” was by chapter 3.  I loved the journey to find him and the heroine finding herself along the way.

The secondary characters were just as likeable as the main characters so this series is sure to be a hit.

The plot was cute and a no-brainer.  Sometimes I like to just read and not have to think, so this was a nice change.

Overall, this is a cute, funny read full of romantic pop culture references.

Synopsis:

Emily Donovan doesn’t have a romantic bone in her body.
At least, that’s what her friends Ryan and Ashley keep telling her. They’re convinced her bad luck with men is directly related to her life-long lack of interest in all things romantic. When Emily’s latest relationship crashes and burns, she decides to go along with her friends’ plans for a romance research project. Sure, the idea that she’ll have better luck if she learns about the great romances of literature and film seems a little silly, but Emily figures it can’t hurt.
In no time at all, Emily finds herself buried under a mountain of romance novels, chick flicks, and sappy love songs, hopeful that her hard work will pay off with true love. When she meets Greg, Ashley and Ryan are convinced she’s found prince charming—after all, he’s rich, handsome, and totally into Emily. What more could she want? And why does it seem that her friend Elliot isn’t exactly happy for her?
Faced with misunderstandings, miscommunications, and a seemingly endless string of missteps, she is nevertheless determined to give true love a try. In doing so, Emily will eventually find that true romance, the kind that lasts, has little to do with stereotypes or clichés, and everything to do with finding out what’s in her own heart.

Friday Night Alibi

Friday Night Alibi By Cassie Mae

friday night

This is the second book I have read by Cassie Mae this week.  He books are flirty, cute, and tons of fun to read.  I really enjoyed this book as well as her other work.

Friday Night Alibi is a light enjoyable YA/NA read.  The romance was sweet and mildly mature.  The character’s banter played out in this book.  I loved the hilarious back and forth of the charters and the pranks they played.

I also love the female lead was a gamer, prankster, and entrepreneur.  I also though that her business was a great addition.

Synopsis:

In the wealthy town of Sundale, Kelli Pinkins has hatched the perfect plan to capitalize on her sweet reputation. For a generous fee, she will be every trust-fund baby’s dream: a Friday-night alibi, the “girlfriend” or “BFF” that parents dream about. With college approaching in the fall, Kelli’s services are in demand more than ever, which means that her social life is

nonexistent. But Kelli is A-okay with that. She’s raking in cash for school. Besides, relationships are tricky, and sometimes very messy. She’d rather be at home on Xbox LIVE, anyway. Then the unexpected happens: She meets college stud Chase Maroney.

Chase isn’t like the preppy, privileged guys Kelli usually meets in Sundale. For starters, he’s twentysomething, always wears black., and he shoots back one-liners as fast as she can dish them out. But Kelli’s attempts to drive Chase away falter when she realizes that he treats her like he really knows her, like he cares about knowing her. When Kelli finally gives in to the delicious kiss she’s been fighting for so long, she faces a tough decision: make Chase a real-life boyfriend and risk her heart . . . or keep her clients and lose her first true love.

Deeper

Deeper by Blue Ashcroft
deeper
I loved this book about tragic love last and new found love love.  The characters were interesting, flawed, and likeable.  The plot was unique and the emotions in this book were heartfelt.
I loved the cover on this book.  It caught my eye on a shelf full of e-reads.   Also I loved the main characters names Rain and Knight!
This is a emotional NA read without mature content as far as sex, but does deal with the after effects of suicide and rape so it does contain mild adult content.  This book does not go into detail on these subject matters.
This is a solid 3 1/2 star book.

Synopsis:

Rain Wilson isn’t ever going to love again.
It’s a promise she made the day her boyfriend died in a water park accident, one she still blames herself for. Now she’s a senior lifeguard in a new town with a new pool and she’s just going to keep her head down and everyone safe.

Until a mysterious guy follows her into the waves at the pre-season bonfire and kisses her senseless. It’s just one mistake, and Rain is determined to put it behind her, until the dark haired, blue eyed hottie turns out to be her new co-supervisor Knight Mcallister.

Knight is hot, tatted, and carrying baggage of his own. He’s not happy about having Rain for a co-supervisor, and he’s even less happy about his attraction to her.

But between lifeguard drama, hot underwater kisses, and a growing attraction between them that can’t be stopped, Knight and Rain are being pulled deeper into their pasts, and realizing that sometimes too much broken can make a relationship impossible.

Then again sometimes it’s the broken parts of us that fit together best.

The Iron Fey Series

The Iron Traitor by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten # 2

The Iron Fey is the second installment in The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten series. This series is a spin-off of The Iron Fey series. I have not read that series. I also have not read the first book in this series The Lost Prince, but I wish I had.

This book gives readers enough back-story not to get lost, but it would help tremendously if you read The Lost Prince first. I think that I would have enjoyed this series so much more if I had. This book has a fairly good stand-alone quality, but I felt like I was missing some of the picture not reading the first book.

The characters and plot were unique and give the story that extra something special.

All in all, I enjoyed this book but would highly suggest reading the first book in this spin off series first!

Synopsis:
In the real world, when you vanish into thin air for a week, people tend to notice.

After his unexpected journey into the lands of the fey, Ethan Chase just wants to get back to normal. Well, as "normal" as you can be when you see faeries every day of your life. Suddenly the former loner with the bad reputation has someone to try for-his girlfriend, Kenzie. Never mind that he's forbidden to see her again.

But when your name is Ethan Chase and your sister is one of the most powerful faeries in the Nevernever, "normal" simply isn't to be. For Ethan's nephew, Keirran, is missing, and may be on the verge of doing something unthinkable in the name of saving his own love. Something that will fracture the human and faery worlds forever, and give rise to the dangerous fey known as the Forgotten. As Ethan's and Keirran's fates entwine and Keirran slips further into darkness, Ethan's next choice may decide the fate of them all.

BLURB
One lost love.
One lost best friend.
One hot soul reaper.
Straight out of the psyche ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn't want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The love of her life, the guy she's loved from a distance for years, has moved away without saying goodbye. So yes, she's nursing a serious heartbreak. It's no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.
The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. It doesn't help that Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. A general pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel more alive than she's ever felt before. But more important, the souls leave her alone when he is around.
Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.
EXCERPT

"Now see what you made me do." I eased off the brake. Ahead, Dad's truck was nowhere in sight.
"Sorry about that," Echo said, but he didn't sound or look it. He reached out and lifted the hair on my right shoulder.
I swatted at his hand. "Stop that."
"Can't help it." He planted a kiss on my neck. The car swayed as I momentarily lost control.
"I'm serious. Quit messing with me, Echo."
"You smell amazing." He trailed kisses up my neck to my ear and inhaled.
The sensations that invaded my body were downright frightening. Not even Eirik had ever made me feel like this. If I could forget Echo was a lunatic and I was losing my mind, I would have enjoyed the sensation.
I reached up and tried to push his head away, but it was like moving a boulder. Worse, my hand sunk into his hair. It was silky, and for one brief moment, I wanted to run my fingers through it, maybe hold his head in place and savor the moment.
He bit my ear. I squealed and, once again, lost control of the car. "Dang it, Echo. We could get into an accident."
"But we self-heal."
I self-healed, too? Nice. No, not nice. I refused to start buying into his crazy assumptions. "I could hurt someone."
"There're just Mortals. If it's their time to go, it's their time to go. No force of nature can stop that. No, that's not true. Norns could. You look breathtaking this morning. Love that shade of red on you. Very vampy. What is it you once told me? Red gives you the extra oomph when you are having a shitty day."

The only person who knew that was Raine. "Who told you that?"

MY REVIEW
Grimnirs By Ednah Walters
Runes # 2.5

Grimnirs is the third addition to Ednah Walter’s Runes series.  I fell in love with Torin St. James in the first book and bonded with Ednah following my review.  Since then this series has been near and dear to my heart.  I couldn’t wait for the next book in the series and fell in love all over again.  So when Ednah asked me to review Grinmirs I quickly jumped at the chance.
Between the unique plot and the exceptional characters Ms. Walters keeps blowing me away.  This chapter was unlike the other book in the series and has given the Ruins series the power that it needs to survive.  I mean we all fell in love with Torin, but lets face it we needed more hotness in this series.  Erick was good, then turned bad, and now is in limbo and the last book ended with a twist so what would be next?  ECHO, that’s who! Echo, Echo, Echo, how I love thee.
I don’t want to give anything away (if you want spoilers see below) but this is a excellent series with characters and a plot you will fall in love with.  So sit down, buckle up, and enjoy the wild ride Grimnirs will take you on!
My Thoughts: *SPOLIER ALERT*
I was confused when I started reading this book.  After the first two books in the series were written in Rains POV and consisted of the Ruins characters we have grown to love, I was dumbfounded to read several pages and learn this book was in Cora’s POV.  It also had Erick in the prologue, but then quickly switched to Cora’s POV and we didn’t hear from Erick for a while.  The pace quickly picked up and halfway through I was hooked.  Watch out Torin St. James, I love a bad boy and Echo is one of the baddest.  Ednah knows how to write a sexy as hell bad boy and she did not disappoint me in Echo’s character.  This reeper with an attitude is perfect for this series as well as for Cora.
Cora’s character really came to life in this book.  I am so happy this story was bout her, even though I was apprehensive in the beginning.  Here character really shined bringing her to life and making her a part of this intense gang of Immortals.
At first I was disappointed that this story didn’t revolve around Torin and Raine, but we do see quite a bit of them in this book as it progresses.  I love these characters and can’t wait to see what’s in store for this cast in the next episode.
I am a true Ednah Walters fan and I am already longing for the next addition to this phenomenal series!
